4 Divine messengers.

Seeing the 4 divine messengers shook the Buddha to his core and this led him to seek salvation. The 4 divine messengers are old age, sickness, and death, and the 4th sight was an ascetic homeless seeker after truth. Thus he knew what he had to do. Life as he knew it had no more attraction for him since it would all vanish now or at the time of death.

An eternal solution to the problem of life and death needed to be found. It took the Buddha nearly 6 years of intense struggle to discover the light which shines continuously, the Dhamma, The Truth, law. Justice.

We are so fortunate to have access to this teaching which we call the Marvel. It truly transforms us. Let us dedicate our entire energy to this single aim of salvation at any cost.

World on Edge.

The pandemic has taught us how impermanence and suffering are ever present in our lives and no sooner did we learn to live with it, we find ourselves witnessing a brutal Russia and Ukraine war. with the same old defilements at work.

Greed, hatred, and delusion are the fundamental roots operating within the human mind.

greed: Liking, wishing, longing, fondness, affection, attachment, lust, cupidity, craving, passion, self-indulgence, possessiveness, avarice , desire for the five sense objects: desire for wealth: offspring, fame, etc. Hatred: Dislike, disgust, revulsion, resentment, grudging, ill humor, vexation, irritability, antagonism, aversion, anger, wrath, vengefulness
Delusion: Stupidity, dullness, confusion, ignorance of the Four Noble Truths, prejudice, ideological dogmatism, fanaticism, wrong views, conceit.

Living by faith love and hope

Winter 2020

Blessed new year to y’all.

Our New Year’s resolution

Let us replace acts like jealousy, hate, revenge, and greed with acts of love, care, and kindness

Let us turn in the direction of Peace, Happiness and Enlightenment.

Doing good is good for you…..Volunteer !

As 10,000 Americans turn 65 daily, they are redefining what it means to reach this aging milestone. Some are delaying retirement. But whether they are working or not, many are embracing opportunities to contribute in new ways by volunteering, sharing a lifetime of knowledge and experience to improve the lives of people in their communities. Volunteering not only benefits Society, research shows it can also pay big dividends in better Health as you age.

2 hours of volunteering a week or about 96 hours per year one can experience improved mental, emotional and physical health – benefits that many older volunteers are reaping because, on average they contribute almost twice as many hours as other age groups.

Volunteering can help to reduce depression, lessen chronic pain and give your brain a boost. You can even live longer! See  www.volunteermatch.org for info on volunteering.
